Meet the Author
Arturo Delaté was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and spent many years believing he had to prove who he was before allowing himself simply to be. His life has taken him through stages, offices, cities, friendships, losses, difficult silences, necessary laughter, and more than one beginning again.
In 2017, he arrived in Vancouver, Canada, without knowing that migration would ask him not only to learn another language and adapt to another culture, but also to say goodbye to many earlier versions of himself.
Over time, Arturo found in writing a way to make sense of what he had lived without turning everything into a perfect explanation. His first book, I AM THAT F**KING BLESSED LUCKY GUY — A True Story, was born from that need: to look back with more compassion than judgment.
His writing moves between Mexico and Canada, humour and anxiety, friendship and community, pop culture and spirituality, vulnerability and gratitude. He writes for those who have had to survive with style, cry in silence, laugh so they wouldn’t break, and keep walking even when they weren’t quite sure where they were going.
