Self-Made is part of Influencers, an original collection by Arturo Delaté honoring the people, experiences, and encounters that—knowingly or unknowingly—helped shape the person and artist he is today.

A dressmaker’s mannequin stands unfinished, wrapped in dark fabric while one of its own forms becomes the hand holding the needle. A red thread travels from the spool to that hand: the material used to construct the garment is also the material used to construct the self. Beneath it, the mannequin’s wooden stand transforms into roots, grounding a figure that is still being made. Nothing here is finished—and that is precisely the point. Self-Made is about creation as an ongoing act: adapting, rebuilding, taking what life gives you and learning, stitch by stitch, to make yourself.
